TEP80 - fastest diesel locomotive in the world. This Record, which is still current, was set 05-Oct-93 by driver Alexandr Mankevich on line Moscow-St.-Petersburg in Russia. TEP80 is a Russian diesel locomotive produced in 1988-1989. Only two locomotives of this model were built. The second claims world speed record for a diesel railed vehicle having reached 271 km/h on 5 October 1993.
